Tirupati: Protesting against the NDA government for denying Special Category status, students under the aegis of `Vidyarthi, Yuvajana
JAC’ staged a mock suicide bid here on Sunday.

The three students, with a noose around their neck, mounted on a bullock cart went in procession from SV Arts College to Town Club
circle where they performed the self hanging as a mark of protest against the Centre for declining Special Category Status (SCS) to the
State and to indicate that there will be no other go for the students except to end their lives with no development of the State.

Speaking on the occasion, JAC district convener S Jayachandra said denying SCS will hit hard the interests of the people more so the
youth and students in the absence of employment generation in the state. He said SCS is a must for attracting industries and investments
for increasing employment in the State for the benefit of youth.

Coming down heavily on the BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narednra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Information Minister
M Venkaiah Naidu, he said the saffron party will be taught a lesson for betraying Andhra Pradesh on the SCS. He called upon the youth to
play a proactive role in spearheading the movement to force the Centre to reconsider its decision on SCS. Jayachandra also criticised
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who he said genuflecting before the Centre instead of fighting against it on the SCS.
