Guntur: Checker Board International, a programme intended to bring under an umbrella all the foreign national students studying in various universities in the State, was conducted at Vignan University campus at Vadlamudi on September 17. As many as 110 foreign students representing 16 countries attended the programme.

Vignan’s vice-president Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu said that various competitions in sports were conducted for the foreign students besides organising dance competitions in their respective native traditions. The participating students expressed hope that they would have a bright future with Indian education.

The vice-president said that an international-level event of this kind was planned to be conducted in October.

Chairman Lavu Rathaiah, Vice-chancellor Tangaraj, Registrar MS Raghunathan and Dean Madhusudana Rao participated in the programme.
