State Minister for Roads and Buildings Sidda Raghava Rao said that the State government decided to develop all the roads in the State.

Eluru: State Minister for Roads and Buildings Sidda Raghava Rao said that the State government decided to develop all the roads in the State. Participating in various development programmes, the Minister said that the government has sent proposals for Rs 25,000 crore to construct a road from Anantapur to Amaravati.

He said that the government prepared designs to construct roads linking rural areas to mandal headquarters, district headquarters and State capital Amaravati. He said that if the Anantapur-Amaravati road construction is completed, then the people of Anantapur can reach the State capital within seven hours. He said that tenders were called for the construction of 5,000 km,-width Panchayati roads in the State. He stated that the State government introduced reforms in the transport department and added that 83 online services were introduced.

He said that the liquor shops on national and State highways were removed to minimise road accidents. He further said that the government directed officials not to allow autos on highways. He said that the government decided to develop APSRTC by purchasing 3,000 new buses in the State.

Commenting on the Special Package assured by the Centre, the Minister said that the Package is very useful for the development of the State. He said, “If we reject the Package, then State’s development will stop. We have to accept the Package and at the same time fight for Special Status.”

Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Ramarao, Mayor Sheikh Noorjahan, co-option member SMR Pedababu, former MLA Ambica Krishna and others welcomed the Minister. MLA Badeti spoke about the condition of roads in the city and requested the Minister to sanction Rs 72.65 crore for developing them in the city besides providing Rs 34 crore to municipal corporation roads.

The Minister assured to sanction funds for the development of roads in Eluru. He earlier inaugurated NTR Sujala Sravanthi Water Plant in 24th division and also started the beautification works of canal bund road of Krishna Canal from Panduranga Theatre side that was taken up with a cost of Rs 40 lakh.

R&B SE Nirmala, Municipal Commissioner Y Sai Srikanth, Corporator Komarti Venugopala Rao, DP leaders Pali Prasad, Uppala Jagadish Babu and others followed the Minister.
