Srikakulam: Leaders of CPM staged a protest in front of Collectorate here on Monday, demanding better package to the displaced people
of Vamsadhara project.

CPM has been demanding resettlement and rehabilitation (R&R) package to Vamsadhara displaced people on par with Polavaram evacuees
and implementation of provisions under new land acquisition Act, 2013.

The agitators are demanding that the government recognise the youth who attained 18 years of age as a family unit and make eligible for
package. Speaking on the occasion, CPM senior leader, Chowdari Tejeswara Rao alleged that officials were intentionally neglecting
interests and welfare of displaced people who sacrificed their lands and houses. The CPM had decided to conduct agitation for two days
till Tuesday, he said.

However, the police foiled their efforts and arrested the leaders and activists.
