Atmakur: The students of Atmakur Model Degree College which was inaugurated via a remote control by the then HRD Minister Smriti
Irani were excellent in their studies and the nation should be proud of Nallamala students, said MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy while
attending a function at the college here on Monday.

Though the Union government constructed the college at a cost of Rs 12 crore, the college was lacking basic infrastructure, the MLA said.
Keeping the pressing requirements of the college, he said, he took the issue to the notice of State Higher Education Council Principal
Secretary and was successful in getting Rs 1.3 crore for the college.

The MLA advised principal Vijay Kumar to utilise the funds for arranging solar plant, furniture, computers and for constructing a
compound wall between men’s and women’s hostels.

Reddy went on to say that he was ready to get funds from the government for the students of remote areas. By making it a happy
occasion, the college management felicitated the MLA.

In another programme, the MLA launched Gundlavagu project extension works at an estimated cost of Rs 54 lakh which were intended as
a permanent solution to the residents of seven colonies in the town who faced hardship at the time of floods.

He said that he was getting allocation of Rs10 crore for Siddhapuram Lift Irrigation works and the assurance of 13 tmcft of water storage
in Veligonda project was also fulfilled.
