Eluru: The Department of Management Studies, CS Rao, Sri YN College PG Centre, organised a lecture on “The Evolution of Management Thought” on Tuesday in the PG Seminar of the college campus in Narsapuram. Prof N L Narasimha Rao, Department of Economics, Andhra University, attended as the resource person and delivered the lecture. Dr N Chinta Rao, Director, PG Centre presided over the programme.Prof Narasimha Rao analysed the development of management thought from 19th century by quoting the famous works of FW Taylor, Elton Mayo, Drucker and others.

He said that management approaches like classical, neoclassical and modern theories focused on the role of efficiency, effectiveness and excellence in harnessing organisational resources. He stated that the modern organisations are competing on two aspects namely cost and quality.

He advised students to develop creativity and update themselves with computer skills in order to make them fit in the corporate world. After the lecture, students asked some questions and clarified their doubts with resource person. In this programme MBA head Dr R Pardhasaradhi, faculty members Dr Ch Srinivas, AV Ramana, GS Rama Krishna, G Ranga Babu, G Madhuri, S S Smitha and students participated.
