Vizianagaram: Minister for Women and Child Welfare Peethala Sujatha has said the State government is giving top priority to improve
health of pregnant women and infants. More and more funds are being spent to provide nutritious food to them, she said.

The Minister toured in Vizianagaram district and inaugurated two new Anganwadi centers at Billalavalasa, Bodasingipeta villages of
Bondapalli mandal on Monday. Later, she said, “We have been distributing food and eggs to 16.8 lakh children in the entire State through
biometric and e-PoS machines to minimize corruption.

We are taking strict measures to control corruption and taking serious action against the tainted staff. Infant mortality per each 1,000
births in Andhra Pradesh is 28, where as the Indian average is 42. We are taking steps to bring down the number further. We are giving
funds to construct new buildings for Anganwadi centers.”

Later, she performed Seemanthams to pregnant women and blessed them to give birth to healthy babies. Minister for Housing K Mrinalini,
ZP Chairperson S Swathi Rani, MLA K Appala Naidu and others participated in the programme.
