Vijayawada: CPM State secretary P Madhu on Monday demanded that the State government withdraw privatisation decision on 39 tourism
projects. Madhu alleged that government was trying to privatise the tourism sector.

The Left leader said there are 300 resorts, lodges, boat riding at prominent tourist and spiritual centers in the State. The State
government was trying to privatise 39 projects in first phase and take up the remaining at a later date, he alleged.

The CPM leader said that the privatisation would lead to several problems including safety and security of the tourists if they were given
to private companies. He also feared that the private companies would remove the employees of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism
Development Corporation (APTDC), which is now monitoring these projects.
