At present, in Srikakulam 536 Anganwadi centers are running in rented private buildings. Proposals prepared for 436 buildings, the Minister explained. 

Srikakulam: Anganwadi centres across the State would get own buildings soon, said Minister for Women, Child Welfare Peethala Sujatha. She inaugurated new building for integrated child development society (ICDS) at Amudalavalasa town on Tuesday. The building was constructed at a cost of Rs 53 lakh. It is the first government building for ICDS in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government was planning to construct 32,000 buildings across the State for all ICDS offices and Anganwadi centers from district to village level. At present, in Srikakulam 536 Anganwadi centers are running in rented private buildings. Proposals prepared for 436 buildings, the Minister explained.

The Minister said that the Anganwadi centres would be developed as corporate play schools soon in the State. She directed officials and staff not to misuse funds and prepare children at Anganwadis forschooling and inculcate good habits, discipline among them.

Civil Supplies and district In-charge Minister,Paritala Suneetha, Minister for Labour K Atchannaidu, Government Whip Kuna Ravi Kumar and MP K Rammohan Naidu explained importance of Anganwadi centres in preparing children for schooling and in protection of their health.

Later, the Ministers team, Whip and MPalong with officials inspected Anganwadi centres in the town and interacted with Anganwadi workers and children. Minister Sujatha distributed fruits and saris to pregnant women at Ragolu village inSrikakulam rural mandal along with Whip Kuna Ravi Kumar.
