Rajamahendravaram: The All India OBC and MOBC Employees Welfare Association recalled the contributions made by E V Ramasamy (popularly known as Thanti Periyar) towards social change in India on the occasion of the social reformer’s 138th birth anniversary. The celebrations were held on Wednesday at ONGC Base Complex.

Speaking on the occasion, Debasis Sanyal, ED-Asset Manager, reiterated that education is the key instrument to emancipate all the deprived sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed and religion. He added, ONGC is an equal opportunity employer in the country and is guided by the policies of Government of India which are influenced by the philosophies of Dr Ambedkar and Thanti Periyar.

Professor, Yendluri Sudhakar of Potti Sriramulu University said that Periyar was the champion of women’s rights and worked for the unity of the nation. He was the strong advocate of humanism and rationalism to develop scientific temperament, he added.
