Kurnool: The farmers of Uyyalavada will become role models to their peers as they adopted natural farming, said Minister for Agriculture Prathipati Pulla Rao.

He was present at the inaugural function of Seva Grama Abhivrudhi Samstha at Uyyalavada village in Orvakal mandal of Kurnool district onWednesday.

The Minister expressed happiness for establishing Farm Produce Organisation (FPO) at Uyyalavada and said that the Chief Minister is ready to encourage the natural farming as the produce from the natural farming could be easily marketed. He said every farmer has to adopt natural farming.

It is happy to note that Uyyalavada village has achieved a turnover of Rs 25 crore. He said enormous results could be reaped if the system of natural farming is strengthened, he said.

He said that the farmers of Uyyalavada are availing interest free loans up to Rs 1 lakh and Rs 3 lakh per 25 paisa interest. He said that the government is of the opinion to establish one bank to every cluster. The Minister said that the Chief Minister has assured that the government will buy the onions for Rs 7 per kg and the same would be marketed in other districts where there is heavy demand for onions. Commissioner for Agriculture Vijay Kumar said: “We would establish the farmer’s organisations with 139 clusters.” He appreciated the members of Rytu Sangham, Grama Ikya Sangham and Mandala Samakya for the construction of building with a contribution of Rs 15 lakh to the sanctioned amount of Rs 25 lakh from MPLADS funds.

Vijaya Bharati, the advisor of Orvakal Podupu Lakshmi Ikya Sangham, said around 60 per cent families of self-help group are leading a better life with the unending support of the Chief Minister.

She thanked the Chief Minster on behalf of the self-help groups. Later, the Minister handed voer cheques worth Rs 25,000 to 10 Rythu Mitra groups.

MLC Chakrapani Reddy, Panyam MLA Gowru Cheritha Reddy, Zilla Parishad chairman M Raja Sekhar, Joint Collector C Hari Kiran, Joint Director Agriculture Uma Maheshwaramma, Chief Secretary Agriculture department Vijay Kumar, Director of Agriculture department Dhanunjaya Reddy and other members participated in the programme.
