Visakhapatnam: Former Minister Konathala Ramakrishna appealed to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday to initiate steps for
sanctioning loans to the DWCRA groups, which were not given any loans so far in the current fiscal.

He informed that as against government’s target of sanctioning bank loans to the tune of Rs 11,375 crore, the banks have disbursed
loans worth Rs 2,034 crore only for the financial year 2016-17. Out of the total number of 5,25,867 groups in the State, only 1,19,119
have obtained the loans so far, he said.

Konathala said that four lakh DWCRA groups were still wandering around various banks to get the loans, which was unfortunate. He also
reminded that it was promised interest-free loans and repayment of interest amount to those groups which had repaid the loan amounts
properly, if the TDP came to power.
