Eluru: Municipal Corporation Commissioner Yarra Sai Srikanth visited various places and slums in the city to inspect the ongoing
sanitation works in the city. He toured the city during the early hours on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said that about 50 teams were formed to improve the sanitary conditions in the city to curb
the spread of viral fevers in the city.

He said that following the three rainy days, the corporation gave highest priority to desilt the main drains in the city for the free flow of
rain and drain water.

He directed the sanitary staff to clean the drain, which filled up in the garbage of vegetable market in one town area.

He asked vegetable vendors to arrange separate dustbins to dump the garbage. He said that mosquito menace would be prevailing due to
open drains where water has been stagnated for a long time.

In view of this, he added that people should maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.

The 50 teams deployed in the town are working in various divisions and are identifying the vacant places which produce the mosquitoes.
About 470 sanitation staffers have been on the duty to take up the cleanliness programme, he added.

He also checked the drinking water pipelines to curb the drainage water mixing in the water pipelines.

He visited the Eastern Street, Kannayya Park Centre, YMHA hall, Birla Bhavan, Old Bus Stand, Powerpeta and Ramchandraraopeta areas.
Health officer Suryarao, Sanitary inspectors Balakrishna, Prabhakar, Tirumala Rao Assistant Engineer Kondala Rao also followed the
commissioner.
