Visakhapatnam: The Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu said Visakhapatnam – Chennai costal corridor would change the face of Vizag. He said that the corridor would not only provide more job opportunities for youth, but also boosts Indian economy.

Inaugurating the India International Trade Fair – 2016 here on Friday, he said being the city of destiny, Visakhapatnam enjoyed several advantages, as it was the centre for agro, mineral and marine product based industries. The Union Minister added that the ADB also approved the corridor. He said that the international trade fair would help to know the value of the products, rates, services available all over the world and promotes trade and commerce among nations.

Speaking on the occasion the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman said that Vizag was the nerve centre of the eastern India and having potential for development of trade and commerce. “Traders coming from Indonesia, Nepal, Australia, Bhutan and south Asian nations will boost the relations in trade and commerce among these nations,” she opined.

The trade fair is jointly organised by Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Local Ministers, several MPs, MLAs and political leaders attended the inaugural function.
