Ongole: Junior doctors in Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences started agitation demanding a chance to write NEET PG entrance in 2017. They demanded that the government should see that the article 371D was amended so that the PG medical seats in Andhra Pradesh could be merged into national pool.

The government announced March 31, 2017 as the last date to apply for nation-wide NEET PG entrance exam. Those who have completed the internship as house surgeons are eligible to apply for the entrance test.

But the 2011 batch medicos in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu & Kashmir could not attend it as their results would be announced in April 2017. That means they should lose an academic year unnecessarily and without their fault.

Hence the interns in the RIMS are demanding that the government should extend the last date for application of NEET PG entrance to give the opportunity to them.

Rahul Rathod, president of the junior doctors association said that the government should extend the last date for application of NEET PG test and amend the article 371D.
