Pithapuram: Paddy and cotton farmers of submerged fields must administer a booster dose of 25 kg urea and 15 kg potash, per acre, so as to save their crops from diseases resulting from water-logging, said officials of Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), on Friday.

ANGRAU dot centre coordinator Dr Praveena and scientist Dr Kishore, along with Assistant Director (Agriculture) Padmasree, visited the submerged fields at Kodavali, Tatiparti and Chendurti villages of Gollaprolu mandal and analysed the situation.

They advised farmers to remove the stagnated water from the fields and add a booster dose of 25 kg urea and 15 kg potash, per acre along with 1 percent Potassium Nitrate solution. In fields where the water had stagnated for more than a few days, the farmers must spray 2ml Valinomycin per litre or Hexaconazole to protect the crop from diseases, said the officials.
