Hyderabad: Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh is likely to have a mega Shilparamam in an area of approximately 50 acres. The State tourism department is moving this proposal with the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) for the allocation of land. The proposed Shilparamam in Amaravati will promote local art and crafts and have a host of other attractions.

The Anantapur and Tirupati Shilparamam projects have been attracting an increasing number of visitors and are running successfully whereas the Visakhapatnam and Kadapa Shilparamams have managed to break even.

Another Shilparamam at Pulivendula in Kadapa district too is emerging as a favourite destination for the people, especially on weekends. However, the Shilparamam in Puttaparthi is witnessing a significant decline in footfalls. New Shilparamams are also coming up at Eluru in West Godavari district, Kakinada in East Godavari district and at Srikakulam, Kurnool and Ongole in Prakasam district.
