Visakhapatnam: Collector Praveen Kumar informed that the Vizag district would be made as a Tourist Hub for which many prospective entrepreneurs have already entered MoUs worth Rs 2,500 crore with the State government to provide infrastructure at all the tourist spots for promotion of tourism in the district.

While launching the Tourism Walk near Kalimatha temple on the Rama Krishna Beach road to mark the occasion of World Tourism Day on Tuesday, Praveen Kumar said that they were trying to make all those MoUs reached by the entrepreneurs be grounded at the earliest. He said there was wide scope for the establishment of hotels and convention centres at all the tourist spots in the district and all necessary steps were being taken to tap the resources.

Stating that the District Tourism Development Council had been very active, he said that it was giving valuable suggestions for the improvement of tourism industry. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Chief Secretary S P Tucker were very particular for the development of tourism in the district and were extending valuable suggestions from time to time, he added.

About the beautification of the R K Beach, the Collector claimed that it was the only beach in the country having 8-km-long footpath facility with a number of ramps to enable the differently-abled too to have an easy access to the beach functions on their own in wheel chairs.

With an intention to facilitate all sections of people including differently-abled too to participate in the World Tourism Day on the beach road, all necessary steps have been taken, he maintained. Later, the Collector along with Municipal Commissioner M Harinarayanan, Assistant Tourism Officer Lakshman, DFO B Dhanunjay Rao, District Malaria Officer Dr Prasada Rao, District Leprosy Control Officer Dr Ramesh, employees of Hotel Daspalla, Meghalaya, Dolphin, Gateway, Daspalla Executive Court and a large number of differently abled-persons continued the Tourism Walk upto YMCA.
