Tirupati: Writer and critic Bhuman said that the political parties damaged the cause of backward areas during the division of the State and are trying to commit the same mistake now by focusing only on the Special Category Status (SCS). He reiterated that the only way out was separate Rayalaseema.

He was speaking after the release of his book ‘Rayalaseema Rashtram Oka Demand’ at the Press Club here on Tuesday.

Bhuman one of the prominent champions of Rayalseema cause bluntly said that political parties knowingly doing the mistake by overplaying the SCS which he said only to keep their interests safe and not the interests of Seema.”

“They carried the useless Samaikyandhra movement knowing pretty well that division of the State is inevitable and miserably failed to be practical and get concrete assurances from the Centre in protecting the interests of Rayalaseema and its development. Sadly, they (political parties) are again out to damage the interests of the region, which is always at the receiving end right from the ‘Sribagh Odambadika’ (agreement), by joining the bandwagon of fighting for SCS,” he averred.

They have conveniently forgotten that the 11 States having SCS are disturbed States, mostly on borders, but there is no such situation here, he pointed out. Rayalaseema has to remain underdeveloped as long as it is tagged with the Coastal Andhra which with its numerical strength not bothered about, or never cared for the interests of the other regions, he said and reiterated that separate Rayalaseema State, which he said viable with vast natural resources, including forests, mines, minerals and hardworking population.

Citing Srikrishna Commission report warning that separatism will surface after some time in Rayalseema if it is continuously ignored, he said if such movement appears it will not be like Telagana movement, as the Seema has the genesis of violent faction feuds in some parts, hinting that it would be ferocious and threatening.

He gave a piece of advice to the saffron party and wanted it to take up the cause of Seema.
