The Hans India” photographer, N Kishore, had won two State level prizes in the photography contest conducted by the government, results of which were released on Wednesday. The Hans photographer’s photos in the two categories of “Women Empowerment” and “Best News Picture of AP” have won the consolation prizes.

Vijayawada: “The Hans India” photographer, N Kishore, had won two State level prizes in the photography contest conducted by the government, results of which were released on Wednesday. The Hans photographer’s photos in the two categories of “Women Empowerment” and “Best News Picture of AP” have won the consolation prizes.

The State government, through the Information and Public Relations Department had conducted the State level photo contest in three categories. The first category had Krishna Pushkaralu, Vanam-Manam and Pavitra Sangamam, while the second category has Chandranna Bheema, Women Empowerment and Tourism.

The third category was limited exclusively for the news photographs. The contest was organized as part of the World Photography Day 2016. The department had received 1,180 entries in all the categories across the 13 districts of the State.

The Andhra Pradesh Press Academy chairman V Vasudeva Deekshithulu, freelance photographer T Srinivasa Reddy, photographer R Pitchaiah and artist S V Rama Rao judged the best photographs for all the seven concepts in the three categories.

In the first category, T Ganesh Kumar and B Maridayya, both from Eenadu from Guntur and Vijayawada respectively and P Ravindra Babu of New Indian Express won the first three prizes, followed by B Joga Rao of Andhra Jyothi at Srikakulam, V Peddi Raju and S Ram Babu, both from The Hindu at Vijayawada and Rajamahendravaram respectively won the first three prizes in the second category. In the third category, I Subrahmanyam and T Veera Bhagavan, both from Sakshi at Vijayawada and A Sarat Kumar of Times of India at Visakhapatnam have won the first three prizes.

The State government had presented 10 consolation prizes in each of the three categories, said the Information and Public Relations commissioner I Venkatesh. Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Public Relations, Palle Raghunadha Reddy, congratulated the winners.
