Tirumala: Giving a clarion call to the Vedic fraternity, TTD executive officer Dr D Sambasiva Rao on Wednesday stressed the need for Vedic legacy for the benefit of future generations.The TTD top brass officer graced the 124th convocation ceremony of Veda Vignana Peetham at Dharmagiri in Tirumala. Speaking on the occasion, he said that one of the prime objectives of TTD is to safeguard the Vedic knowledge and spread the essence across the globe through extensive research programmes and conducting seminars.

Today, we are operating seven Veda Pathashalas which are imparting Vedic education to over 950 students. Those who have successfully completed the Vedic course are getting numerous opportunities as priests and professors.

In the past, we have given jobs to seven students who excelled in Vedic courses. Even we are ready to offer our support to private Vedic schools for the spread of Vedic knowledge. The donations to SV Veda Parirakshana Trust is also encouraging", he added.Earlier, Veda Vignana Peetham principal Sri Kuppa Venkata Siva Subrahmanya Avadhani briefed the academic activities and achievements in the last one year in the Peetham.

He said TTD has been giving a stipend of Rs 3 lakh to students who successfully complete 12-year Vedic course and Rs 1 lakh to eight-year course students.Pedda Jiyangar Swamy and Chinna Jiyangar Swamy of Tirumala also took part in the convocation.Later, they given the certificates and 10 grams silver medallion to the 68 students belonging to Veda, Agama, Divyaprabandha and Smartha divisions along with TTD EO. Vedic faculty and students were also present.
