Tadepalligudem: Endowments Minister Pydikondala Manikyala Rao said that permanent measures were taken up to control the floods of Yerrakalva rivulet in the district. The Minister visited the catchment areas of Yerrakalva rivulet in Tadepalligudem mandal on Wednesday along with irrigation and revenue officials. He also visited the inundated paddy fields and Yerrakalva aqueduct at Nandamuru.
Speaking to newsmen on the occasion, he said that the sand dunes in the rivulet, which have been obstructing the flow of water, will be removed by December ending. He said due to the mistakes of old contractors the inundation problem of the rivulet increased in this area. He assured the victim farmers of all assistance from the government.
He said he will discuss with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the pending arrears of compensation to the farmers besides input subsidy and subsidies. He directed insurance officials to take up steps to pay the insurance amount to the farmers. He visited the farm fields in Jagannadhapuram and discussed with the farmers on the losses and inundation problems with the Yerrakalva rivulet.
