Political leaders, former people’s representatives and others who participated in the programme alleged that local MLA Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao was misusing the college premises for his political activities and polluting the sanctity of the institution. 

Vijayawada: A round-table meet organised by Andhra Pradesh Praja Natyamandali and All India Student Federation (AISF) demanded an end to political activity on the premises of Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College in the city. The meeting on Thursday resolved to protect the sanctity of the college.

Political leaders, former people’s representatives and others who participated in the programme alleged that local MLA Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao was misusing the college premises for his political activities and polluting the sanctity of the institution.

The speakers demanded that music college remained a non-political institution and should be free of any political interference. They suggested that the college campus be placed under the control of the principal and not others.

City Congress president and former MLA Malladi Vishnu, CPM city secretary Donepudi Kasinadh demanded that government take action against the director of the AP Cultural department for allotting the college for other activities.

YSR Trade Union State president P Goutam Reddy, BJP State secretary P Poorna Chandra Rao, AAP leader P V Rama Rao, music college old students association president S Subrahmanyam, CPI city secretary D Sankar, AISF secretary Ch Raghuveer, Prajanatyamandali secretary K V Bhaska Rao and others participated.
