Eluru: Chairman of Nidadavolu Municipality, Boba Krishna Murthy, said that the Municipality earned Rs 20 crore through a layout approval under municipal limits. He presided over the Municipal Council General Body meeting held at Council hall here on Friday.Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said that the Municipality has been trying to increase its income by constructing shopping complexes in Municipal sites at main centres in the town.

The seventh ward councillor Nandigam Subbarayudu alleged that no street light has been working in his ward and added that antisocial activities are going in the ward. He stated that recently an old woman was murdered by unknown people in her house for gold ornaments. He said that only one technician and a helper are working in his ward.

Municipal Deputy Engineer Srinivas said that the street light contract was given to a company throughout the State in Municipalities for over seven years. When the agenda 14th issue came up for discussion, the 25th ward councillor Kaikarapu Satyanarayana objected for allotting Rs 22 lakh for the repairs of the old municipal office building. The Chairman directed the Deputy Engineer to recheck the building condition once again. Municipal Commissioner G Krishna Mohan also addressed the meeting.
