Eluru: Director General of Police N Sambasiva Rao said that security in the State has been beefed following suggestions from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the surgical strikes on Pak-occupied-Kashmir (PoK).Addressing the media on Thursday, the DGP said that the IB had asked all States to be alert after the strikes in PoK.

He said that the Marine Police Stations in the State were also on the alert. Four mobile stations have been established in West Godavari district and equipped with 21 boats, informed the DGP. He said that the number of boats would be increased. On a different note, the DGP said that they had received some vital evidence regarding the arson at Tuni and added that some more arrests would be made.

The DGP said that the Police department would use the body-own cameras to monitor the activities of on-duty personnel. These cameras synchronized with the digital watch would monitor the movements of the officials and personnel on duty, he added. He said there were five cameras currently being used in the State and this number would soon be increased to 300.

He said that the department would make use of information technology to control the crimes in the State and that mobile control rooms would be established in the State soon which would be equipped with drones, CC cameras and other equipment.

The mobile control room which was used during Krishna Pushkarams had given good results and with this encouragement, it was decided to implement it all over the State during mega events like festivals and other programmes, said Sambasiva Rao. He said these control rooms would be opened within one month.

Praising the West Godavari district police for being at the forefront in the implementation of information technology, the DGP said that for the first time in the State, an e-office and e-challan had been introduced in the Police department in West Godavari district.

He said that all the police stations in the district would be developed into model stations and added that the police stations in Vijayawada urban and Guntur districts which are under Capital Region Development Area (CRDA) have already been taken up for development as model stations I the first phase. 800 police stations would be developed as model stations in a phased manner, informed the DGP.
