The officials, this time, decided to distribute seeds by synchronising Aadhaar Card and Pattadar passbook which necessitated the use of biometric machines. But, the problem arose when the machines stopped working. 

​Banaganapalle (Kurnool): Supply of bengal gram seeds to farmers at Kovelakuntla market yard near here on Wednesday created a tense situation with the officials suspending the distribution abruptly. Non-functioning of biometric machines was said to be the main reason for the suspension.

Distribution of the seeds to farmers at 25 kg per acre, up to an extent of five acres, started in the district on October 3. The officials, this time, decided to distribute seeds by synchronising Aadhaar Card and Pattadar passbook which necessitated the use of biometric machines. But, the problem arose when the machines stopped working.

Following the suspension of distribution, the farmers tried to vent their anger on the officials concerned by staging a dharna on Kovelakuntla-Jammalamadugu highway. Traffic on the highway came to a standstill for hours together.As it is the right time for sowing bengal gram seeds, farmers demanded that the distribution of seeds resumes expeditiously by keeping in view the abject condition of the farmers.
