Rajamahendravaram: Master plan is being formulated for Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation keeping future requirements in mind, Rajamahendravaram Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai said here on Friday. She conducted a meeting with corporators to create awareness among the people at corporation office here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai mentioned that Rajamahendravaram which is the cultural capital of the State going to be transformed as Maha Rajamahendravaram with merger of 13 surrounding villages. Recalling that master plan gazette notification has got approval of the State government, she said that agenda is being prepared to place the final proposals of the master plan in the general council meeting of the municipal corporation going to be held on October 14.

She mentioned that the first master plan was approved in 1975 and areas like Danavai Peta, T Nagar and A V Apparao Road were identified as residential areas in that master plan and added that these areas have been identified as commercial areas in the new master plan.

She explained that Katheru, Kolamuru, Konthamuru, Gadala Thorredu, Mormapudi, Palacharla, Pidimgoyyi, Diwan Cheruvu, Dowlaiswaram, Bommuru and Lala Cheruvu villages apart from Madhurapudi airport are going to be merged in the corporation and the population will increase from 3.50 to 5.50 lakh with the merger.

She mentioned that area of the corporation will augment from 44.50 square kilometres to 162.83 kilometres and the income of the corporation will also amplify. Mayor informed that the master plan will be sent to the government after the approval of the council and will be executed later with the cooperation of people and people’s representatives.

Speaking further, Mayor said that roads will be widened keeping the growing traffic in mind and road from Hitech bus stand to Lala Cheruvu will be widened up to 150 feet, Korukonda road will be widened from 60 feet to 100 feet up to Gammon Bridge and road from Thadi Thota to Mormapudi will be widened to 100 feet, to NTR statue via V.T college will be widened up to 80 feet and Apasara theatre road will be expanded up to 60 feet. She made it clear that the greenery will be given utmost priority in the city as well is in merged villages.
