Praja Arogya Vedika demands strengthening of public health system
Speaking on the occasion, the National convener of Jana Swasthya Abhiyan Dr Abay Shukla said that the government is opting for private health schemes which benefits the private hospitals than government owned. He further said that the Universal health policy must be implemented all over the country just like other countries.
Vijayawada: The Praja Arogya Vedika (PAV) state committee has called for the strengthening of public health domain on Friday. The committee held a meeting on the State and Central medical procedures at Makineni Basava Punnaiah Vignanana Kendhram here.
Speaking on the occasion, the National convener of Jana Swasthya Abhiyan Dr Abay Shukla said that the government is opting for private health schemes which benefits the private hospitals than government owned. He further said that the Universal health policy must be implemented all over the country just like other countries.
The public health system must be strengthened and over 2.5 per cent of the total budget should be allotted to the public health sector. The vice president of PAV, Dr Makineni Kiran said that the government should restrict the third party insurance schemes where the private sector is booming with the insurance business and the government health system is weakening.
He also said that the doctors would adopt the best medical treatments if the government supports them with better funds and equipment in the government hospital. Many major and critical surgeries have taken place successfully in the state government hospitals, he added.
The convener of PAV Dr Suresh said that the committee is going to organise regional meetings at Vizianagaram, Ananthapur and Vijayawada in October. He also said that short surveys would be taken at all the government hospitals of the State in November and the survey stats would be handed over to the State ministries and legislative bodies.
