Hyderabad: Discontent is brewing among the staff of Telangana Secretariat as 40 officers belonging to Andhra region have reported for duty there following division of officers between the two Telugu States by Kamalnathan Committee.

As a result, 20 Assistant Secretaries will now have to be reverted as section officers as the officers hailing from Andhra region are senior to the officers belonging to them.

The officers of the Telangana Secretariat, in a memorandum to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, have appealed to the Telangana government not to give postings to the officers of Andhra region as the objections raised by the officers of Telangana Secretariat before the Committee were not taken into consideration before forwarding the list to DoPT and was approved by the Government of India.

There are 228 sections in Telangana Secretariat, each headed by a section officer who plays an important role in framing policies, preparing cabinet notes, handling confidential matters and dealing with vigilance cases.

There is an apprehension among the employees that if persons belonging to Andhra region are posted in crucial posts, there is a chance of leakage of important matters.
