On Wednesday, corporation health officer Dr Ushakumari inspected the spraying measures in select wards and also interacted with residents seeking them to cooperate with the corporation of health wing for containing mosquito problem in the pilgrim city. She wanted the residents to approach the health staff for spraying and fogging in their homes. 

Tirupati: The Municipal Corporation of Tirupati health department stepped up measures for the eradication of mosquitoes in the pilgrim city. As part of the anti-larval and anti-mosquito measures, the heath personnel, along with engineering department, took up spraying phyrithram in all the drains, open places in all the divisions in the city, including water sumps, sewage outlets in private houses also, and in the evening fogging.

On Wednesday, corporation health officer Dr Ushakumari inspected the spraying measures in select wards and also interacted with residents seeking them to cooperate with the corporation of health wing for containing mosquito problem in the pilgrim city. She wanted the residents to approach the health staff for spraying and fogging in their homes.

She said that the residents can call the health officer (97-1699936), deputy statistical officer (8897833788) or health office (0877-2256766) to report any cases of viral fever or dengue for taking up immediate sanitation and health measures in the areas and also for providing treatment of the patients in the local SVRR hospital where additional arrangements were in place for treatment of seasonal disease, including malaria, dengue. The public also on their part take up measures like using protective nets to avoid mosquito bite and keep their houses and vicinity clean and tidy.

Ushakumari urged the residents to ensure no stagnation of water in their vicinity, on their houses and also dispose properly the used tire, coconut shells, empty tins etc to check mosquito breeding.Health officer also warned of stern action against the personnel showing any laxity in the taking mosquito eradication measures and said that the steps would continue till the end of seasonal diseases period.
