Hyderabad: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan said that his party preferred industrial development but not at the cost of the well-being of people. People should prosper by development but should not live in fear, he said.

A team of villagers from West Godavari, who were opposing the construction of Aqua Mega Food Park near Bhimavaram, met Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday. They explained to him that villages like Thundurru, Kamsali Bethapudi and Jonnalagaruvu would be badly polluted along with 30 other villages.

They complained that neither the government nor the management of the company was bothered about them, and said that protesters were being arrested.

They expressed concern that the irrigation and drinking water bodies in the region would be polluted and the livelihood of the small, marginal farmers and fishermen would get badly affected.

Having listened to them, Pawan Kalyan said he would discuss the matter with environmentalists and the higher officials of the government.
