Vijayawada: Travelling on Mahatma Gandhi Road popularly known as Bandar road become very fast and easy due to measures taken by the Traffic police. Due to the closure of some traffic signal points from Police Control Room to Benz Circle on experimental basis has achieved good results as vehicles moved very quickly on MG road. Traffic police are implementing 'U' turn rule at some places on Bandar Road for smooth and speed passing of vehicles.

MG road is one of the busiest roads in the city. Many VIP vehicles including that of CM N Chandrababu Naidu, ministers and VIPs pass on the road. Vijayawada being capital city, traffic was suddenly increased causing a big burden to the traffic police. In order to ease the traffic problem, the police have arranged ‘U’ turns at some important places. At the remaining places, the vehicles are passing very swiftly and it takes only five to seven minutes to reach Benz circle from police control room. Closure of traffic signal points and implementing ‘U’ turn system was saving time, said M Sri Raghava, an analyst of Karvy Securiteis. Earlier, it took too much time to pass on the same road, he added.

City Police Commissioner Guatam Sawang wanted to resolve the traffic problem on MG road, said Traffic Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (ADCP) Nagaraju. Traffic police made some experiments on MG road and closed the traffic signal points to regulate the traffic as well as to end the traffic problem, he said. No one has objected these actions and traffic police have received applause from citizens, he added.
