Tanuku: CPM politburo member Brinda Karat demanded that the government should withdraw the illegal cases registered against the villagers of Tundurru, where the government is planning a food park.

Talking to reporters at the sub jail here on Thursday, Brinda said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu should take responsibility for the oppression against the villagers, who were opposing Aqua Mega Food Park.

“It is unfortunate to use police force against the agitating villagers. People in the affected villages have raised their voice against the pollution that might take place with the establishment of Food Park,” she averred.

She alleged the government of terrorising people by using the police force and flayed the government for foisting attempt to murder, murder and other cases against innocent people. She warned that people and the CPM would not tolerate such oppression.

Stating that she would raise the issue at national-level, the CPM politburo member accused the Chandrababu Naidu’s government of working for the interests of the capitalists.

“If the TDP government does not change its attitude, it will fall down,” she warned. Brinda said in no uncertain terms that they would continue to fight until the plans to set up Food Park were scrapped.

Earlier, she met representatives of Aqua Mega Food Park Vyatireka Porata Samiti at Tundurru. Addressing a public meeting at Bhimavaram, She praised the fighting spirit of the people. She alleged that the government violated laws of the land.
