Vijayawada: Krishna University women cricket team has entered the finals of South Zone Inter University Women Cricket Tournament (SZIUWCT) being held at Sathyabhama University in Chennai on Friday. Krishna varsity beat Pondicherry University team by nine wickets in semi-final match held on Friday.

According to University Sports Board secretary Dr N Srinivasa Rao, Krishna University women's team restricted Pondicherry team to only 40 runs. Bowlers played key role in the team winning, he said. He also said that T Mallika took six wickets; Sindhu and G Chandra Lekha have picked up two wickets each.

The team reached the target in only 5.3 overs with a loss of one wicket in which G Sneha stood as the highest scorer with 24 runs in 12 balls, he added. Krishna University team will play final match against Madras University on Saturday.University Vice-Chancellor Prof Sunkara Rama Krishna Rao, Registrar Prof D Suryachanda Rao and others conveyed wishes to the women team on the occasion.
