Visakhapatnam: The RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative (CSR) donated an ambulance and an audio visual system to the Visakhapatnam Eye Bank and Research Training Trust-Mohsin Eye Bank at a function held on Thursday.The ambulance was handed over by local MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao where the Steel CMD P Madhusudan, Principal Income Tax Commissioner Omkareshwar and Steel Directors were present. Speaking on the occasion, the CMD reiterated on eye care initiatives under CSR.

Omkareshwar and MLA Srinivasa Rao appreciating the RINL’s commitment of donating an ambulance to the eye bank, said it would benefit the people in general and the needy in particular. Noted ophthalmologist A V N Chetti who is also the representative of the trust gave a brief presentation on the importance of eye donation. The ambulance would be used to spread awareness among public for donation of eyes and to collect corneas from the donors. The cost of the ambulance is Rs 4.82 lakh and the audio visual system to promote awareness on eye donation.
