Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu claimed said that the number communicable diseases cases declined after the launching of ‘Domalapai Dandayatra’ programme. He conducted a teleconference from his residence in Undavalli with the officials of RWS, Education, Medical and Health Departments on Friday.

Speaking on this occasion, he said the number of dengue cases came down from 1,389 to 71; similarly malaria cases came down from 15,975 to 324. He instructed the officials to work commitment to reduce the number of communicable diseases cases.

Responding to a query, principal secretary of Medical and Health Department, Poonam Malakondaiah said that over 126 medical teams were set up in all 13 districts, comprising of officials from health department and local bodies to conduct awareness programmes.

She added that they have identified 7,19,065 mosquito breeding centres in the state and were conducting antilarva operations. The Chief Minister instructed the officials make SHGs partners in chlorinisation. He asked the officials to geo tag the saplings planted in the plantation drive.

Stressing on the need to improve sanitation, he asked them to launch sanitation drive. Naidu instructed the officials to implement the hub and spoke system, which was in place in Kuppam and make the State mosquitoes-free. He also stressed on need to involve varsities in the Swachh Bharat programmes.

Stating that the government would observe handwash day on every Saturday, he asked the officials to make it a success. He explained significance of physical exercises. He said he would give awards to those who participated in the ‘Domalapai Dandayatra’ programme.
