Visakhapatnam: There is a lot of scope to learn more and more new things in the legal profession even for the experienced advocates, observed District Judge Justice V Jaya Surya.

Launching the two-day training programme for panel lawyers under the aegis of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) here on Saturday, Justice Jaya Surya called upon the lawyers to make use of the skill development training and do justice to society. He informed that district lawyers R Srinivasa Rao and T Subba Rao were selected as Master Trainers by the State Legal Services Authority. They will impart training on various important topics.

On the first day, redressal of cases through conciliation, contents of Legal Services Act, Child Labour Act, Domestic Violence Act and the responsibilities of panel lawyers would be taught. How to resolve the cases with regard to Hindu Marriages Act and protection of tribal rights besides redressal of cases through Lok Adalat would be taken up on the second day of training programme.

Those who have completed 10 years of practice as lawyers were only selected for the programme and as part of it 60 lawyers were taking the training in the two-day programme, he added.

Metropolitan Sessions Judge Justice S Sasidhar Reddy said that the objective of the DLSA is to render justice to public and wherever the objective of rendering justice was not fulfilled through the present legal set up, it would be possible through the DLSA. He also said that some cases could be settled through conciliation as an alternative mode.

Justice Reddy called upon the panel lawyers to help those hapless persons who were leading life in jails for not securing bail for lack of suitable guarantee to get the bail and for not in a position to pay the guarantee amount. The objective of the DLSA must be to render legal aid to those in need of it, he added.

Visakhapatnam Bar Association President NV Suman while stating that the lawyers should not fear for anything and those go ahead with commitment and courage would certainly get success in the profession.

Master Trainers R Srinivasa Rao, T Subba Rao, Bar Association members and local advocates were also present.
