Visakhapatnam: Firm in the saddle, the big netas of the State now want their kin to enter the politics and the immediate chance to launch them would be coming soon in form of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation elections, slated for second week of December. The ruling Telugu Desam Party, also hinted that the elections for the post of Mayor would be direct and that gives the opportunity to the netas to swing the fortunes in their favour.

Ever since the alliance came to power, the BJP, which has its floor leader P Vishnu Kumar Raju as MLA of Visakhapatnam North, has been demanding the mayoral post and half of the 72 wards, on the ground that people voted for both TDP and BJP due to the influence of Narendra Modi.

TDP leaders claim that prior to the 2014 elections, BJP had no electoral post anywhere in the united Andhra Pradesh and hence not justified for making claiming mayoral post. However, as the elections are coming to close, the top leaders suggested to the local leaders that BJP could be offered MLC post for which Ch Ramakotaiah and senior advocate J Prithviraj have being trying and retain the mayor post for themselves.

Sources said Minister P Narayana wanted his daughter P Sarani as the Mayor of the city. Sarani, who did her MBA from London, got married to Ganta Srinivasa Rao’s son Ravi Teja last year.
