Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Mahila Commission chairman Nannapaneni Rajakumari appealed to the Union government to extend financial support for maintenance of government general hospitals in the State in the backdrop of State bifurcation. Rajakumari has made a surprise visit to the old government hospital here on Tuesday and interacted with patients.

Rajakumari expressed concern over the child marriages and said it was sad to see that the girls below 18 years have admitted for the delivery in the government hospital. She urged the people to avoid child marriages in view of health problems being faced by minor girls. Rajakumari wanted Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas to strive to get funds from the Centre for providing better facilities in the government hospitals.

She also appealed to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to take measures for increasing the number of doctors and specialty units in the government hospitals. Rajakumari enquired the patients about the facilities and problems they are facing in the hospital. Hospital deputy superintendent Dr N Vithal and other doctors were present.
