Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijay Mohan said that 1000 mega watts of power would be supplied from the solar power parks that are being constructed at Orvakal and Shakunala mandals by March, 2017. He inspected the progress of works of the solar project and substation power plant on Wednesday.

The collector ordered the engineers concerned to ensure the completion of works taken up under the Ultra Mega Solar Project, within a period of four months. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the Central Minister for Electricity Board would participate in the inaugural function after the completion of the solar parks, in the month of March, 2017, said the collector.

Regarding the sub-station power plant, he said that power would be supplied to the grid from Nanoor sub-station after completion of works, in December. He assured that jobs would be given to the families which had given their lands for the construction of the solar plant. Vijay Mohan informed that a special report had been prepared containing the names of all people who had lost their livelihoods as a result of giving their lands for the solar project. The report would be sent to the government for providing compensation to them, he said.

The collector said the construction of solar power project was possible only due to the coordination of the farmers and urged further cooperation from them for the early completion of the project. He assured of every possible help to them from the government and ordered the officials to take up plantation on both sides of the power project. Solar Power Project Corporation Managing Director Adi Seshu said the works were progressing on schedule only because of the initiative shown by the Chief Minister in facilitating land acquisition and providing all amenities.

He assured that 4000 mega watt power would be supplied from the plants by 2018.Revenue Divisional Officers of Nandyal and Kurnool Sudhakar Reddy and Raghu Babu, Solar Power Corporation Superintendent Engineer Narayana Murthy, tahsildars of Orvakal and Gadivemula and engineers were present during the inspection.
