Visakhapatnam: The Committee on Government Assurances, Rajya Sabha, headed by chairperson Viplove Thakur and Committee members Lal Singh Vadodia, Madhusudan Mistry, Dilipbhai Pandya, Mukul Pande, Additional Secretary, R P Tiwari, joint director and Sameer Kapoor, assistant director arrived here on Thursday to discuss the starred and unstarred Parliamentary Questions and the assurances thereof on the issues of setting up of the Maritime Board in AP, construction of ports for inland waterways, development of national inland water ways, issues of Talcher fertiliser plant; rail connectivity projects under Sagar Mala and increasing of operational efficiency of major ports.

Chairman of the Committee along with the committee members had one-to-one discussion with the officials of the State government, Inland Waterways Authority of India, National Fertilisers Ltd., Visakhapatnam Port Trust, Paradip Port Trust, Indian Port Rail Corporation Ltd., Railways and representatives from the Ministry. The issues raised by the Parliamentary Committee were discussed at length and were noted down by various organisations which attended the meeting.
