Visakhapatnam: The Gryehounds and Odisha police shot dead Maoists, who could be sleeping in their camps, alleges district president of Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee T Srirama Murthy.

He appealed to the government to conduct post mortem on the slain Maoists in King George Hospital since it is mandatory to have forensic experts as per the Supreme Court orders.

Fearing more deaths, Murthy asked the police to stop combing operations so as to shift the injured Maoists to hospitals for treatment.

“It is the habit of the police to hunt for the injured Maoists and kill them in cold blood,’’ he added. Citing 1998 encounter in which 17 Maoists were killed in Koppadangi, Murthy said the police had continued combing operations and killed four more activists after the incident then.

Demanding a case under Section 302 of the IPC, the human rights activist asked the government to conduct an inquiry into the encounter by a sitting judge of the High Court.
