Chittoor: Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao has sanctioned 21 new buses to Chittoor following a representation by Chittoor MLA DA Satya Prabha. Due to shortage of RTC buses, commuters, particularly from rural habitations, are deprived of transport facility,” she said.The MLA inaugurated the new APSRTC buses here on Tuesday in the presence of Chittoor in-charge Mayor Subramanyam, APSRTC Tirupati regional manager Naga Sivudu and others.

A representation was submitted to the Transport Minister on the needs of Chittoor depots and the Minister has taken immediate steps to sanction 21 new buses. The government is contemplating to revive ‘Palle Velugu’ services at the earliest,” she said.
She said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was making all efforts to make Andhra Pradesh a model State despite shortage of funds. She exuded confidence that many global industries would set up units in the district due to the initiatives being taken by the Chief Minister. She urged the RTC authorities to introduce Garuda services from Chittoor for the convenience of passengers travelling to Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
Naga Sivudu said that the State government sanctioned 72 new buses to Chittoor-I and II depots and adequate services would be introduced on various routes. The APSRTC has modernised eight bus stations in the district. Palle Velugu services will be resumed in the region. Many of the existing buses are replaced with new buses.
Plans are also being made to introduce a Volvo bus from Chittoor to Hyderabad and Vijayawada,” he said. Reiterating that the APSRTC would provide more comfort to the passengers and give a tough fight to private transport operators, He appealed to the people to travel in APSRTC buses as the corporation was providing travel concession to students.Chittoor deputy chief traffic manager Krishna Rao, Chittoor-II depot manager Gajalakshmi, Marketing Committee chairman Mohan and others were present.
