Cheepurupalli (Vizianagaram): In a ghastly incident, a woman lost both her legs when she was pushed onto the path of an oncoming train by her scheming lover, at Cheepurupalli area in Vizianagaram district. According to sources, Neelaveni and Ramakrishna were both singers in a band, based in Velagavalasa village in Terlam mandal. They were in love for the last few years and Neelaveni had been asking Ramakrishna to marry her.

Ramakrishna who was not keen on marriage had initially demanded a dowry of Rs 10 lakhs but later told her that marriage was not possible and convinced her for a suicide pact. On Tuesday, Ramakrishna took Neelaveni to the railway track saying they would commit suicide.

But as the train arrived, he pushed her in front of it and apparently ran away. Neelaveni’s legs were crushed under the train. She was rushed to the local hospital where doctors amputated her legs. The victim has now been shifted to Maharaja General Hospital for better treatment. However, Deputy Superintendent of Bobbili Sowmya Latha denied any knowledge of the incident. “We have not received any complaint. Once a complaint is registered, we will take serious action against the accused,” she said.
