Ensure safety of RK, High Court tells AP
A two-judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy and Justice MSK Jaiswal on Monday adjourned to Thursday a petition seeking production of G Rama Krishna alias RK Central Committee Member (CPI Maoist Party).
Hyderabad: A two-judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy and Justice MSK Jaiswal on Monday adjourned to Thursday a petition seeking production of G Rama Krishna alias RK Central Committee Member (CPI Maoist Party). The bench was dealing with a habeas corpus writ petition filed by Kandula Sirisha, wife of Rama Krishna.
The petitioner complained that the police of Andhra Pradesh have a notorious record of killing people in the name of encounter. She complained that her son Munna was killed by the police of AP in the name of encounter and his mutilated body was thrown roadside near the AP- Odisha border.
She alleged that her husband was in police custody and requested that he be produced before the court. The AP Special Government Pleader said that the said person was not in the custody. The bench asked him to file a counter.
He said that he needs some time as mobile phones were not functional in that area. The bench reminded that the life of every citizen is important irrespective of status. The bench granted time to file a counter and adjourned the matter to Thursday.
