Mentally-ill man set ablaze by kin
They confined Yedukondalu to house for 15 days as he was disturbing the family members, said the SI. On Monday, they severely beat him on the road and soaked him in kerosene before setting him on fire besides poisoning him.
Thotlavalluru (Krishna): A mentally retarded person was killed by members of his own family at Yakamuru of Thotlavalluru mandal near Vuyyuru under Vijayawada Police Commissionerate in Krishna district on Monday.According to Thotlavalluru Sub-Inspector Prasad, the victim was identified as Sonti Yedukondalu (49). His son Sonti Veera Babu, daughter-in-law Durga and wife Krishna Kumari allegedly set him ablaze by dousing him in kerosene at Yakamuru main road.

They informed the police and 108 and shifted him to a hospital.
On receiving information, Thotlavalluru police rushed to the village and shifted Yedukondalu to Vijayawada Government Hospital. He succumbed to the burns in the hospital, said SI Prasad.The police took into custody wife of the deceased Krishna Kumari, son Veera Babu and his daughter-in-law Durga and registered a case for further investigation.
