Ongole: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched Jana Chaitanya Yatra in Koppolu village on Tuesday. The programme was aimed to explain various welfare schemes launched by the government to the public and encourage them to utilise them effectively.

Speaking on the Occasion, he said that caste was the main reason for evils in the society. “Eradicating poverty is my aim and I will strive hard to see poverty-less society,” he vowed.

Naidu said that he was tolerating disrespectful comments against him for the welfare of public. “TDP belongs to everyone. The Congress cheated people by unscientific bifurcation of the State. YSRCP lacks political awareness. Due to his corruption he ended up serving jail time,” he said.

Later, the Chief Minister participated in the work shop for DWCRA and MEPMA groups. He distributed the cheques for the self help groups. He said that he introduced the capital infusion of Rs 10,000 for every woman in the groups to provide benefit to all rather than helping few women, who took loans.

“I told them to save Rs 1 from their income of Rs 10 and they did wonders. Now 8.80 lakh DWCRA and MEPMA groups in the State are receiving Rs 2,457 crore as second phase of capital infusion.

These women wondered me by successfully running the 234 generic medical shops, 5,268 canteens, 152 sewing machine centres with 17,000 members, implementing mid day meals and a host of government programmes,” he said.
