Kadapa: Expressing deep concern over MLC elections attaining political hues, sitting MLC Geyanand has urged the government to take initiative to prevent such situation in the coming MLC elections. Geyanand, who proposed to contest for the second time in the coming elections, told media persons here on Tuesday that though political parties were in no way connected to these elections, they were interfering in this issue. He affirmed that he was committed to principles like distancing from corruption, striving to find a solution to the problems faced by the people, and act ion a democratic manner.

Finding fault with the government for creating confusion among graduates of their enrollment as voters by introducing laborious procedure, he urged the Kadapa District Collector to simplify the enrollment process as a large number of graduates would exercise their franchise. As an example, he said that Praveena course in Hindi, GNN course related to nursing were equivalent to degree but those who pursued these courses were ignored in the enrollment process, leading to confusion. Those who completed graduation in 2013 should be eligible for enrollment, he said.

Geyanand said injustice was being done to Rayalaseema people in the allocation of SI posts as only 57 posts were allocated to the region against allocation of 152 as per population basis out of the 468 posts notified.

AP Contract Outsourcing Federation (APCOSF) district president K Srinivasulu Reddy, UTF district general secretary B Lakshmi Raja, All Pensions Retired Employees Union leader BVS Raja, LIC Employees general secretary A Raghanatha Reddy and others were present.
