Protests against AOB encounter

Nellore: Leaders of AP Civil Liberties Committee, Jana Natya Mandali and Social Democratic Party of India staged a protest at the Gandhi Statue Centre here on Wednesday, condemning the encounter on Andhra-Odisha Border recently.

The protesters raised slogans against the Police for gunning down the Maoists.

APCLC district secretary Venkateswarlu demanded a judicial probe into the incident by a Supreme Court sitting judge and also to file murder cases against the police personnel involved in the encounter. Venkateswarlu also said that a fact-finding committee would visit the encounter site on November 5 or 6. The committee would include all presidents and secretaries of CLC throughout the country.

Nearly 14 leaders from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would visit the encounter site. Later, a report would be presented to the media, the CLC district secretary said. He said the government had failed to resolve public issues.

New Democracy Party leader Syed Mohammed and others participated in the protest.
