MLA asks Collector to order probe into land scam

Nellore: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) District Convener Kakani Govardhan Reddy submitted a representation to the District Collector on Thursday asking him to order for a thorough probe into the land scam. It may be recalled that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders made allegations that Govardhan Reddy had encroached Co-operative Joint Farming Societies’ (CJFS) lands to an extent of 4.20 acres worth Rs 10 crore at Vaviletipadu in Nellore rural mandal. Refuting the TDP leaders’ charges, the MLA invited them for an open debate on the issue.
Based on the complaint of the TDP leaders, the rural police registered a case against the YSRCP MLA. There were also allegations against Govardhan that he had encroached nine plots at MK Nagar in Dhanalakshmi Puram. The MLA approached the Collector seeking an impartial probe into land scam. The YSRCP leader said officials can initiate action if he was found guilty.
